great Samsung LN52A550
We've been watching our 52" Samsung for 4 weeks and
love it. Since we tend to hold on to TV's for a long time, I have
contemplated the brand and features of big screen HD TV for years and
this TV exceeds my expectations.
First is the decision over size. Where we put the TV is not a big
room but with all the friends with big screens I queried, none said
they wished they got a smaller TV. If they were to buy again they'd buy
larger! A 46" would have been fine but I convinced my wife to go 52"
and it is outstanding to view even at 10 ft away.
This set has plenty of hook-ups for electronic gadgets.
There are technical measurements of brightness, clarity, sharpness
and picture refreshing. Take a trip to BestBuy and check out all the
competition. I did and this set is second to none. Also remember, it
won't be long and another generation of TV's with better numbers will
be out, so just buy it now and enjoy it.
Buy LCD HDTV, Cheap LCD HDTV, Discount LCD HDTV, Best Buy HDTV, Buying LCD HDTV, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, Panasonic
You must do your homework to see how much more HD TV is going to
cost you per month. In my case by bundling tv, internet and telephone
with Comcast, it is costing much less than it did before.
There are negative reviews on sound and suggestions on settings to
improve sound. I like the sound and there are many ways to enhance it.
My suggestion is to use the Custom setting but not use any (-)
positions.
Buy with Amazon. I ordered on a Sunday and the TV was delivered
the following Thursday. The delivery men carried it in, unpacked it,
hooked up to cable, DVD and power, turned it on, ran a check thru the
stations and gave instructions on the features to us before our sign
off and their departure.
At $1800 this set is at least $500 less than BestBuy when you
factor in sales tax. There are no shipping charges with Amazon, I don't
know about BestBuy delivery.
Have patience getting used to the new controls and don't be surprised to find you will be spending more time watching TV.

Review Samsung LN52A650 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color
Thoughts after 1 month use; More reviews
When I purchased this TV from Amazon.com I had already decided on this
Samsung 52" series and was trying to decide between the 650 and the
750. At the time there was a small price difference between the two on
Amazon.com. I ended up choosing the 650 because I was placing the TV
inside a nook that had limited space.
The 650 has a less bulky frame around the LCD screen and therefore
it was only 50.2 inches wide (Amazon has the TV dimensions incorrectly
listed as 52" wide) as compared to the 750 which is 52" wide. Both
screens have the same display area, just a different width.
The other reason I chose the 650 is that it can swivel on the base,
whereas the 750 is fixed on its base. Because I have placed the TV in a
nook, this swivel feature has come in very handy as I have had to get
behind the it several times to plug in cords, etc.
I have read a lot about screen reflection and was bracing myself
for a potentially unpleasant experience during daytime viewing,
especially since the room the TV is in has windows all the way across
two walls and is full of sunlight daily. I'm happy to report that
screen reflection is absolutely no problem. The TV I was replacing with
the Samsung LCD was an older 32" Panasonic Panablack analog TV with the
glass screen, which had a lot of reflection. As a point of reference,
the Samsung has about 20% of the screen reflection of my old TV
(judging from when the TV is off). When the TV is on, the Samsung is
about 5% of screen reflection from what I used to have with my old TV,
which may be due to the incredible brightness of the display.
I'm the type of person who over-analyzes every major purchase in
the hopes that I can avoid buyer's remorse, if possible. I spent a
number of months on this decision and I feel like I hit a home run with
this purchase. Samsung has exceeded my expectations with this model and
I have been very satisfied with the experience of buying a TV from
Amazon.com.
